Tough, Satisfying Slow Burn
Review of Hagazussa (2017) by nezzkobdamned: π 7.2/10
Slow-paced, narratively ambiguous, and without a solid conclusion, Hagazussa is a tough one to recommend.
It is focused heavily on imagery to tell its story, with the bare minimum of dialogue. It can be quite powerful in that respect; see the scene in the lake. Shocking, yet never explicit. You're never sure whether there's actual witchcraft afoot or if a tortured young woman is crumbling psychologically.
The vague nature of the film will probably annoy and anger some, but it's a visually striking film, backed by some exemplary audio work.
