A real piece of shit 💩

Review of Men at Work (1990) by kcookandcatsco: 👎 1.0/10

Wow\...

This is nothing. This is so nothing. Why and how did this get made into a film? How did Emilio Estevez ever work again after this?!

I don't even know where to begin...

Bad vibes right out of the gate. The title card looks like I could have banged it up in Google Slides.

The writing is utter dogshit. There are no jokes in this. It's allegedly a comedy, and it's all mugging and reaction shots and 'duhrrrrr can you believe that?' oh God, it's horrible. It's awful. This is a dreadful script and an even more dreadful film.

It's not all bad, though I'm not giving it any points above 1.0 (the lowest my scale goes). Here's a really funny moment, and a line I'm going to quote in the future.

Uh, that's it, though. There's nothing else good in the whole movie. Even the thing I like gets perverted and run into the ground, killing any joy in it for me.

I'm not sure BlueSky even lets me show this one, bc of the Casino photo, but you get the idea regarding how little I cared what happened to these characters.

Come for the gay panic and misogyny; stay for some of worst 'fight choreography' I've ever seen in a major motion picture. It's as dangerous as Backyard Wrestling and as visually unimpressive as Backyard Wrestling.

And then this more or less sealed it for me. I was, like, 'well, does it deserve to go in the 1.0 Films Reel?' and it does. Here's your sign.

Blurgh. This one upset me. Some films are so trash and drek that they will make you said, and this is such a film. Fuck everyone involved with making it; no one who worked on this movie should ever work again. Horrible.
