I don't usually do this, but...

Nope. There's an (trigger and spoiler warning) ugly, gratuitous sort-of child death, in which a young girl desperately pleads with nearby adults to help her and is ignored before being stabbed three times in the back with a 10-inch knife.

Yuck. I turned it off, and I hate it for that. I think narratively, the little girl is still a present spirit and entity, but I'm just not in movie-watching to see movies that open with 8 minutes of near-pornographic child-distress and death. Not for this movie, and probably not for any.

So I turned it off and am still reviewing it. If you want to see the other time I did that, it was turning off The Apprentice doing Oscars Homework last year at the rape scene, and I wrote about that extensively on Medium, which I've linked.

Don't feel bad about turning movies off is the takeaway here. There wasn't going to be a single thing in this movie that would have made the first few minutes worth it, and I made the right call.
