Beautiful Existential Dread
Review of It's Such A Beautiful Day (2012) by billiamthenerd: 👍 10.0/10
Never before has a movie bothered me to my core like this one did but kept me watching. The last time I was this bothered by a movie, I had to walk out. But something kept me watching this film.
First, since my name is Bill as well, I think I was a little more susceptible to the existential dread this movie had to offer. This is so troubling and well done. Following this XKCD style stick figure around, you would think this would be a light hearted affair, but my God does this movie shake you to your core.
Its mixed visual media was very effective. It had some real life shots mixed in with the animation and the use of negative space was expertly done. The sound was stellar, a calm narrator interspersed with startling and bone shaking sound effects and the occasional extra voice added to bring the seriousness of everything to the forefront.
Everyone who loves movies needs to watch this. I rented it on Vimeo and sure, maybe you can find it free somewhere, but support the director.
I measured my heart rate while watching the film and it spiked to 85 (I normally sit between 65 to 73) during some of the more intense part of the film.
If you know any cinephiles, they hvae to watch this.
